NADDC Meet With Key Automotive Components Manufacturers

NADDC MEETS WITH KEY AUTO COMPONENTS MANUFACTURERS.

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) on April 18, 2024, convened a pivotal meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, in collaboration with key auto stakeholders to discuss the crucial role of component part manufacturers in driving the growth and development of the Nigerian automotive industry.

Speaking at the meeting, the Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment (FMITI), Dr. Doris Anite expressed excitement about advancing the implementation of the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP). She extended her gratitude to attendees for their participation and commended the collaborative efforts of NADDC and its partners in formulating the policy. Dr. Anite emphasized the policy’s aim to propel Nigeria forward in the automotive industry and assured the administration’s commitment to its full execution.

Emphasising the seven pillars of the Auto Policy, the Director General, NADDC, Mr. Joseph Osanipin underscored the significance of focusing on component parts development as outlined in the Council’s strategic plan.

“There is no auto without the components parts”. He reiterated NADDC’s commitment to fostering the growth of the sector through the development of locally available parts.

The meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of NADDC, government officials, and industry stakeholders to drive the growth of the Nigerian automotive industry. The focus on local component parts manufacturing is seen as pivotal in achieving the transition from Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) to Completely Knocked Down (CKD) production, thereby facilitating organic growth within the sector.

Some of the Key Stakeholders and Auto components manufacturers at the meeting were the Chairman Innoson Group, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Chairman Chicason Group, Chief Chika Okafor, among other local components manufacturers.

NADDC remains dedicated to fostering partnerships and collaborations to ensure the sustainable development of the Nigerian automotive industry. Through initiatives like the NAIDP and engagements with industry stakeholders, NADDC aims to create an enabling environment for local manufacturing and propel Nigeria to greater heights in the global automotive landscape.
